The MacRobert Arts Centre is located on the campus of Stirling University, two and a half miles from Stirling town centre. It first opened in 1972, and initially had a 500 seat fully equipped theatre which was also equipped to screen films, and there was a 120 seat studio theatre.

A new second screen cinema opened in October 2002. This seats 136, while the main original auditorium now seats 470, and as before mixes its programming with live shows and cinema use.
