Opened in 1977, the Forum Theatre Hatfield was not the most attractive of buildings but its facilities were more impressive. It had a large stage with full fly tower and generous foyer space which doubled as an art gallery.
Films soon joined the events presented here on a large screen flown out of sight when not in use. Generally only the balcony (251 seats) was used for film screenings.
After a short and uneventful life, the Forum was closed and later demolished in 1999/2000. A new multiscreen cinema had opened in a new shopping mall constructed above the A1(M) road out of London.
