Located in the Margate suburb of Cliftonville, opposite the General Post Office. The Lounge Picture Salon was a conversion of a boarding house and its gardens, and opened on 22nd January 1912. It was advertised as ‘cool and comfy’.
It became the Cameo News Theatre in 1935, and was closed during World War II due to wartime conditions. It had reopened by 1944 as the 404-seat Cameo Cinema, operated by Lou Morris.
The Cameo Cinema was closed in December 1969 and the building was later demolished. Replaced by three shop units, which in 2009, two are occupied by Ladbrokes bookmakers.
