Berkeley Theatre

The Berkeley Theatre was a welcome addition to Saranac Lake. It opened on February 5, 1988, over 9 years since the Pontiac Theatre was lost in a fire. It was located in the basement of the Corvo restaurant.

In April of 2000 the building was sold and the theatre closed. The new owner tried to find an operator for the theatre but could not. In June of that year the equipment was sold to the Palace Theatre in nearby Lake Placid.

The Map seems to be way off with no way to fix it.

More info and photos are always welcome.

You are right about the map. Berkeley was located across Main Street from the Hotel Saranac, in the wedge shaped lot at the intersection of Main Street and Broadway Street. There is a red awning sticking out from the basement entrance that was the theatre entrance. Last time I was up there (and it’s been awhile) there was a nightclub in the Berkeley space.
