In 1969, it was hosting a private film club known as Theatre VII, which screened gay porn movies, and included live all-male stage shows at weekends.

Later known as the Hollywood Playhouse, by the mid-1980’s it had become the Howard Fine Acting Studio, which remained open into the mid-2010’s. It became an Event Space which had closed by April 2019 and the building was offered ‘For Lease’.
