John's Island Drive-In

The John’s Island Drive-In opened August 3, 1950 featuring “Who Is My Neighbor”. Owned and operated by Thelma C. Nix. The drive-in was only open two days a week from what I can find, it was open on Thursdays for white patrons and Friday for colored patrons. Looking at the only two movie advertisements I could find, the drive-in showed religious films. It was only open for two weeks and closed. In looking at 1957 aerial views of John’s Island, I could not find trace of it. So it must have been very small Mom and Pop type drive-in.
