Empire Theatre

Located in the centre of Portsmouth. The Empire Theatre was opened in 1891. It was designed by noted theatre architect C.J. Phipps. At the moment not much is known of its history.

Later known as the Empire Palace Theatre for a while, it was refurbished in 1913, and again in 1944. I believe it was closed in the late-1940’s

Later demolished, a branch of Iceland supermarket operates on the site in 2009.
