Gladesville Palace Theatre

Located in the northwest Sydney district of Gladesville. Local builder James Park entered the movie business with the Palace De Luxe Theatre, which opened in 1926. It was a large cinema at the intersection with Victoria Road, and being the first in the area to install ‘talkies’, became the dominant local movie theatre. In 1934, it was taken over by Gladesville Theatres Pty. Ltd. This company strengthened their position by buying the nearby Victory Theatre. It eventually came under the Snider & Dean circuit.

Taken over by Hoyts in 1951, the Gladesville Palace Theatre was closed in 1966. It was demolished in 1971, and replaced by an office block.
