The Westgate Cinema appears in the Kinematograph Year Book 1934, and also in the years up to 1944. It is not in the 1947 and 1954 editions. It is also not listed in the 1914 edition.

The KYB 1934 merely lists the name, the sound system Western Electric(WE). By 1937, it is listed with an AWH sound system (what happened to the far superior WE sound system?) and the seating capacity of 580. Unlike for the other two Otley cinemas, the KYB 1942 doesn’t name the thoroughfare (Westgate, presumably).

The KYB 1931 simply lists the name and Western Electric (WE) sound.

Rather than start another cinema, the KYB 1931 also lists, with no other information “Kings Hall”.
