Rex Cinema

Located in Newhaven, East Sussex, between Brighton and Eastbourne. The Theatre de Luxe was opened around 1911. It had a small street façade, and entrance to the cinema was via a passage which led to the auditorium behind a row of shops. By 1915 it had been re-named Cinema de Luxe, and after a refurbishment could seat 548.

New owners took over in the early-1960’s and it was re-named Rex Cinema. By 1968 it was operating with films and part time bingo. The Rex Cinema was closed in 1970, and was soon demolished.
