News About This Theater
- Apr 28, 2005 — Village 4 Theatre Closes Its Doors
The Fox Village Theater was opened at the Maple Village Shopping Center in 1967, for Fox Eastern, which was a subsidiary of National General Corp. It was designed by Drew Eberson, and cost around $500,000.
Later, the Fox Village was sold to the United Artists chain, and after it was sold to Mann Theatres, in 1978, it was twinned. A year later, two additional auditoriums were added to the original building, brining the seating total to over 950.
Briefly closed in 1992, the theater was reopened by MJR Theatres. Over the years the theater was run independently.
The theater closed on April 24, 2005.

On Saturday, Jan. 10 I was there to see Cat in the Hat at the 4:10 showing. I tried to call to let someone know I left my Black gloves in the seat towards the back of the theater. Please let someone know I will try to pick them up tomorrow, Sunday 1/11. Thanks—-Julie Andress 734-961-0832.

I Love the Village Theatre. I am so glad there is a theatre where we can see flicks at a reasonable price. The do need to spend a few dollars on fixing the place up a bit. Izzys007
Drove by the theater the other day, too bad it doesn’t have a marquee, from the exterior it doesnt seem like it would be an elaborate theater.
Interesting to read about this theatre with the Eberson name, but sadly it didn’t continue to be a single screen theatre as originally intended by the son of John Eberson, Drew.
Is this theater for sale or lease?
I don’t if this is The Village Theatre or not, but a four screener is getting a new life by an Ohio chain called Teicher Theatres.

No, the Briarwood Dollar Movies is in the Briarwood Mall, whereas this quad was in an old strip mall called Maplewood. BTW, the correct website for Teicher Theaters is http://www.teichertheaters.org
