Picture Palace

Located in Jacksdale, Nottinghamshire. The Picture Palace was opened in 1912. All seating was on a single floor. In 1931 it was equipped with a British Thomson-Houston(BTH) sound system and it played its first ‘talkie’ “Rio Rita” starring Bebe Daniels & John Boles.

The Picture Palace was closed in 1959. By February 1960 it had been converted into a nightclub. In later years it was in use as a lighting warehouse, but was demolished in the early-2010’s and a Co-Op Food store was built on the site.
