Melody Hall and Gardens

Viewing: Photo | Street View

Located on Kent Street at the corner of Railway Terrace. The Melody Hall(Theatre) opened in 1955, and the Gardens opened(soon after?) The Gardens closed(mid or late-1950’s or early -1960’s?) and move diagonally across the intersection and the second gardens closed in 1963 or 1964. The Hall(theatre) closed in 1967.

The hall(theatre) building was gutted, and Gardens(1st site) demolished(?), and the exterior walls(of the Hall(theatre)) were incorpated in the new development(nightclub – Zelda’s). The Second gardens Site was demolished and a service station(Shell?) built on the site which has since closed down, future of site unknown?).

The Melody Hall and Gardens may have run by the same people who ran the Melody drive-in?
