Regal Cinema

Located in Blackhall Colliery, north of Hartlepool, County Durham. The Super Cinema was opened around September 1925. Alterations were carried out in 1931 and a British Talking Picture(BTP) sound system was installed. In the 1930’s it was taken over by Yoden Pictures Ltd. In 1938 more alterations were carried out and it was re-named Regal Super Cinema.

In the 1950’s it was re-named Regal Cinema and soon began part-time bingo in the early-1960’s, with films on separate nights, which continued until at least 1969. It later became a full time bingo club and closed around 1983. The building was ‘For Sale’ in 1985.
