The Papaaloa Theatre opened in 1932 and was part of the Pacific Theatre chain. It seated 323 on on level, the typical island theatre of all wood with a linai that ran the front of the theatre. From the street level to the lanaii there were four steps as all island structures in that area were built on stilts or a facimile. The theatre is now two retail shops, one Island Wear and a Kona coffee shop.
