Lyric Thetare

The 1913 Sanborn shows a ‘Moving Picture Theatre’ in the westernmost storefront of the Bayne Block, a beautiful stone-fronted set of stores, built sometime before 1887. This space had previously been one half of a furniture store.

Later maps are not available online, but it is likely that the theatre closed when the larger Voncastle opened in the same block. In later years, it was rejoined with the storefront to the east as a hardware store. The entire block was foolishly destroyed around 1975 for a parking lot.
