The Overlook Theatre opened in 1935 and closed in 1950, the address was 4801 Warsaw-Cleves.
I found an address of 4899 for “The Overlook Th.”,of course Film Daily is not always correct.Seated 576,but 400 and 450 were listed too.
Probably demolished in the 1960’s., today it is a convienance store site with gas pump self service. This was a very elegant section of the Price Hill area. The Ackerman’s would build their Covedale Theatre in 1947 not far from this site on Glenway.
When you map it, it shows a Mobil Gas Station/Convience Store at the 4801 Location. So the address is propably right.
Looks like the Mobil and the United Dairy Farmers Convience Store takes up the entire block, a short block at that.
I’m working to find the owners name for this old cinema, it had a small stage for vaudeville and that means sometime before 1925 this cinema was erected. It was owned by family members and an outside partner.
After the Overlook closed as a film house it became a rollerrink for some years.
