Scio Theatre

In 1915 a circa 1892 structure containing a vacated poolroom in the small, agricultural community of Scio was converted into the People’s Theatre. In 1949 the building was sold, remodeled and had it’s banner changed to the Scio Theatre. With the proliferation of television in the 1950’s, it became difficult for the theatre to remain economically viable leading to it’s closure in 1956. The theatre sat idle for a decade before being demolished in 1966. The site is now inhabited by the Scio Post Office.
