Cinema Dacia

Situated in the Mănăștur district of Cluj-Napoca, in north-western Romania (where it is the unofficial capital of the Transylvanian region) Cinema Dacia opened in 1981. It is on three levels: basement, ground and first floors. The cinema auditorium, with 205 seats, was on the ground floor (and was also used for live performances), while there was a smaller, multi-functional hall, with around 100 seats, on the first floor. In 1989, a disco opened, presumably in the basement.

At some time Cinema Dacia closed. That was probably in the early 2000’s, as it lay disused for 15 years, before, in the late-2000’s, it became the focus of a campaign to re-open it for the neighbourhood. It is hoped that, in addition to the interior spaces, the large foyer can be used for exhibitions and other events.
