Located in Butterknowle, a village to the west of Bishop Aukland, County Durham. The building was a conversion of a Miner’s Institute, built in the 1870’s. The Miner’s Hall Picture Palace was opened on 21st September 1912. By 1934 it had been renamed Kino Picture House and was equipped with a Morrison sound system. All seating was on a single floor. It had a 18ft wide proscenium and was equipped with a Gyrotone sound system in the mid-1930’s. It was still open in 1954. By 1958 it had been renamed Kino Cinema and the proscenium had been widened to 24ft to accommodate CinemaScope and a British Acoustic(BA) sound system had been installed. It had closed by 1963.

By 2023 the building was in use as storage for M.L. Tallentire, suppliers farm equipment.
