The Rose Theatre was located on 102nd Street near Amsterdam Avenue in Manhattan. It was opened prior to 1926, and was closed around 1941-1942.

The Rose Theatre had 442 seats and was listed as closed by the time of the 1942 Film Daily Year Book.
Unless there was another Rose Theater in Manhattan, this theater had a Robert-Morton organ Size 2/3 Style 49 installed in 1926.
Still open in 1934 with 470 seats according to my Film Daily Year Book.
The Department of Buildings lists 182-184 West 102nd Street as “outdoor recreation”. It’s either a small park or a playground.
The location of this theatre is now occupied by The Fredrick Douglas Houses of the NYCHA.
Still listed as open in the 1941 Film Daily Yearbook.
I am wrong in my post from 2009. The theater would be in what is now the field next to the new building that houses a school. P.S. 179 is what is was called when I was a kid, then it was home to West Side High School.
Why is Loews Showboat Quad, across the Hudson River in New Jersey, listed as a “Nearby Theater?” Best laugh I’ve had all day!
That always bugged me too. I think I can see it from my apartment over there in Jersey. Why “Showboat”? I know it’s by the river but there is nothing showboatesque about it.
I am wrong again, I actually can see the multiplex that put the Showboat out of business. The Showboat is now a Trader Joe’s. It shared the parking lot with a restaurant on a retired ferry boat, The Binghampton. The restaurant closed and the Binghampton is half sunk and it looks as if it is collapsing.
