The Sandcastle Theater opened in September of 1976. The theater was originally a first-run theater, but became a discount theater in 1980. The Sandcastle closed in March 1998. The last two movies the Sandcastle played were “Anastasia” and “Flubber”.

The Sandcastle Twin was originally a retail store that the Kohlers converted to a movie theatre. One of the reasons the Kohlers closed the Sandcastle was a lack of family movies. The theatre was not open on Sundays.
