By using an existing building, H. Coleman converted the building into the Lakeside Theatres in 1976. It started its life as a first run theatre but later was renamed the Lakeside Discount Cinemas and ran second run fare in 1985.

The Lakeside was closed in 2000 because of declining attendance due to comnpitition from the new multiplexes that were opened close by. It was later converted to retail.
