Theatre Historical Society 2009 Awards announced!
THS enjoyed a wildly successful successful conclave covering Philadelphia, Baltimore, Wilmington (DE) and various other NE Pennsylvania locations.
As we do every year, THS awards recognized various individuals:
Member of the Year: Howard B. Haas of Philadelphia, President of Friends of the Boyd for their efforts to save Art Deco Boyd Theatre
Honorary Member of the Year: Phil Tagami, who spearheaded the saving and restoration of the Fox Oakland, CA, Theatre which THS toured last year on our Bay Area Conclave.
Outstanding Theatre Book of the Year: Norman O. Keim for his tome “OUR MOVIE HOUSES: A History of Film and Cinematic Innovation in Central New York”
Weiss Literary Award: David Wilkinsonm Woodland, CA for his article ‘HOLLYWOOD COMES TO WOODLAND, CA"
We also gave our Creating Theatre History Award to Tom Kiefaber, Senator Theatre, Baltimore, MD. This is an award given at the discretion of the THS Officers & Directors and is only the second time it has been presented since its inception in 2006
The President’s Award was Michael Hauser, THSA Vice President, for diligently performing his duties as THSA Vice President above and beyond the call of his office. Again, this is not an annual award – it is given at the sitting President’s discretion for exceptional service to THS or the goals of THS.
We are now busy planning for the 2010 Hoosier Conclave in Indianapolis. Check out the THS website (www.historictheatres.org)for preliminary details or write to !
We’d appreciate it if you would share this news with the Cinema Treasures readers. And as always we invite them to join THS, receive our quarterly magazine Marquee and of course come along on our 2010 Conclave!

it is a form of ingratitude.
