ok… the marquee was like Manhasset with neon Playhouse on top each side but larger…
Have you ever checked out show at CM PERFORMING ARTS CENTER? AKA OAKDALE… they are never dark new shows every one to two weeks…It can happen..just need good bookers to fill gaps between artsy shows, if that’s a word.Smithtown is in a great spot to draw from N & S shore..
Great I have been in many Carmike Theatres when I lived in GA. Good company…
You’re right about Islip…Cable V who owns Clearview Theatres is selling them off..I hope at least someone from this country buys them…have you heard anything?
Thanks Ed, that is what I was talking about. I don’t get confused, I know both theatres very well..Back to the utube video that started this conversation…pitch or slope what ever you want to call it, is there..again watch the floor where it meets the wall and follow it down…More important..who do ya’ll think will buy Clearview Cinemas?
The Squire was a car dealer show room before it was a theatre…The main floor was and is flat even after they diced it up…That being said…if you look at the youtube again, and look at where the floor and wall meet you can see the floor pitch down…Also some isles are not the same pitch as the seating area, you can see on the clip where they are standing..I don’t think you rule out movies ever being played there..
Who will pick up the Clearview Theatres? Any ideas..
Saw this in the Penthouse….then played it at UA Playhouse in Greatneck…
CBDebill..When you worked there was Dotty MGR.?
LOGAN5…Somewhere on this site are pictures of opening night..I was there….
Where are the pictures…
Finian at Penthouse that’s where I saw it.
PS: IF YOU CHECK THE PHOTOS I TOOK AND ED POSTED ON APRIL 9TH THE SIGN THE LEASED SIGN WAS THERE…
IF YOU WANT TO ASK AGAIN CALL THE AGENT IN JULY 2ND.
THE LEASED SIGN HAS BEEN THERE THAT LONG…CVS THOUGHT THEY HAD IT BUT LOST IT…TOWN DIDN’T WANT IT…
The only reason I brought it up, you said in Sept. “The Studio 54 reference was lost on him.”
I do understand what you mean…But, if it was my theatre
and I told someone about cabaret seating, I would not like anyone saying it will be like Studio 54…When anyone hears Studio 54 they don’t think about the seating. They think the disco and coke era..not the way it is today…I don’t think it was lost on him,it was the image that came to mind. All in all, you were right about the seating and life is a cabaret..
PS: I was reading an old post…Studio 54 ref. When you do a big make over, you have to take out all the seats til' it is safe [for the seats] to put them back..This will be a live show prof. arts center ie: Northport and Patchogue..
Ed and company…was at Riverhead Country Fair Sunday..
I also got a tour of THE SUFFOLK THEATRE…They will be giving updates and photos to CT soon…looking to ad 30 feet to the stage through the back stage wall..if you are in the area and the doors are open stop in..
Ed, don’t know if this helps…WRIV radio is 40 West Main
in the Landmark Bank Build….and I know the Suffolk is east of WRIV on the same side of the road and could not have an odd number address…
This may be a repeat of something I said but, the area left of the condo sign and to the right of vogue store was an alley that was the area where all the eastside of the Playhouse fire escapes and the apt. fire escapes would come together to take them to the street…under the stairs was a dumpster for apt. and Playhouse..the area was all open then…and store with the black sign 2nd from the left was the Playhouse entrance……more later..
The apts. you see on Middle Neck road are the same ones that have been there since 1923…they just fluffed them
up and called them condos…Ed that picture you took looking south…has always looked that way…the shorter of the three was back stage entrance that would take you to the dressing rooms and under the stage…more soon
My mother saw Sinatra there……anyone who was there are in the late 80’s or 90’s now..
ps i don’t know what i het to get red and large
It is still a triplex but when the last people wanted it to be some kind of multi- use they took the seats out of theatre 1 for live shows dance and party area..
There was a East Islip With about 475 seats..go to the top of this page put Islip see all the Islips west and east.
