it is still listed on the Mariner Mall website. It seems to have been expanded at some point to 7 screens. it seems to be an independent.

It is an amc design. Identical to all mid 90’s megas. This particular unit is a direct clone of Puente 20, sans the large lobby due to Puente being inside a mall.

After 19 years of playing first run movies, the Edwards Atlantic Palace has been demoted to a discount house. It now shows all features any show for $3.
The closing date has been pushed back to the end of the year from whht has been told.

I took my first trip to the ATS and its amazing. Its so Loews, yet so AMC. It has the Loews spotlight design on the outside design and inside the carpet has the loews spotlights. Three auditoriums (1, 2 and 14) are handicap accesible on the top. Definity you don’t see that much anymore. It is an odd design as its all one long hallway with 12 theaters and 2 in the main corridor. Stairs take you from the lobby to the theaters and a ramp hidden behind a false wall for handicap. The theaters are also numbered counter clockwise which is rare.. Especially for AMC. It has large screens even in the smaller auditoriums. It took a step away from AMC in the auditorium design.

Pictures have been sent to cinematour.

Currently the only new theater that is truly a treasure is the AMC Atlantic Times Square as this is the last Loews theater ever built. Its opening marks the end of a storied and historic chain.

Wasn’t that a Sony design, Chris?

No photos yet. I’m too busy to go over there and nothing I want to see. I live in the city of Monterey Park. Once I do have any they will be sent to Cinematour for archive.

According to the sgvtribune:
theater is the newest in the AMC chain and features four 3D auditoriums and 10 digital-projection auditoriums.

It is all digital projection.

The employees, even though they dont know much about older chains, work in a cinema treasure of its own. The last theater by the largest name in exibition at one point. This 14 plex represents the end of Loews, with its spotlights.

There are some pictures of it here a few months ago:

One picture that I took on page 19 you can see the Loews spotlight logo in the purple paint.

This theater was acquired by AMC following their purchase of Kerasotes. It is the first AMC to be located in the Las Vegas area, which is dominated by Regal and cinemark. It is a standard 10 plex with no digital screens and I believe no stadium seating.

This theater has slowly been transformed into a second run house with one or two first run films. Driving by all the time there is never anyone at the box office, a sad end to what used to be the prime theater in the west San Gabriel Valley. Sad to think it may not hit its 20th anniversary.

It has been rumored that this theater will close along with the Edwards West Covina 18 after the summer.

The Levitz / Toys R Us was not torn down. It is the same building. The front of the building is the same as the Toys R Us when it was remodeled prior to closing.

Exterior photos are now on Cinematour. I took them two days ago on my way to San Diego. An interior lobby photo is on the Big Cinemas website. Its your typical Krikorian interior for their new theaters.

The new name of this theater is Brea 5 Cinemas.

Something is seriously wrong with this theater.

First off the last film in IMAX here was Kung Fu Panda. I called the theater and the girl told me there are no plans to open it up any time soon.

Second, only 5 movies are being shown on the Family side.. And only 3 on the 21+ side. 5 screens are dark.

I sense that this theater won’t be around past Christmas.

jmarellano commented about Dos Lagos Stadium 15 on Jul 13, 2010 at 6:27 pm

Too many screens in this area period. This theater would have worked if it was located closer to Lake Elsinore which is really lacking a good theater. But they built it close (a mile or so) south of the wildly busy and successful Corona Crossings 18. Even if this theater was located in West Corona it may have been successful but in the middle of nowhere, with development of new homes stalled it was doomed from the beginning. If they would have made this area more like a destination than what it is.

Other theaters in the area include the AMC Tyler Mall 16.

jmarellano commented about Pacific's Manhattan Village 6 on Jul 11, 2010 at 8:37 pm

Incorrect. Pacific is converting the Beach Cities 16 on Nash and Rosecrans to an Arclight. This will remain a 6 plex. I do expect it to play more mainstream films when the Arclight opens (with the art product going to there).

jmarellano commented about Regency Commerce on Jun 24, 2010 at 8:22 am

Its an old theater. I don’t know when it opened but I know it was a 7 plex for a long time. Around the mid 90’s it expanded to 14 screens to try and draw crowds that went to Montebello, Norwalk and surrounding areas

The 7 new screens do have stadium seating. I do not know if the old 7 were retrofitted. They do show a lot of movies with Spanish subtitles.

jmarellano commented about UA Horton Plaza 8 on Jun 20, 2010 at 8:58 am

The 7 additional theaters were added on the third floor of a former Robinsons May depaartment store. These auditoriums are small and all have sloped floors. A second concession stand was built in the hallway going to these auditoriums.

jmarellano commented about UA Marketplace 8 on Jun 20, 2010 at 8:54 am

This is now a 24 hour fitness. It was your typical UA design of the late 80’s where you had all 8 theater entrances in the lobby. Similar design to the UA Horton Plaza 7.
