It does not look good for the magnificent CAPITAN. We were there and took pictures 3/19/07. It still looks great on the outside, but is trashed on the inside and has gradually become isolated in an industrial area. The only thing that will save this one is lots of $$$$. Also the city of Houston is no longer turning the neon on. (Please take a look at the link KenRoe posted above for a night-time view.)
Here is a picture postcard of downtown Chadron with the EAGLE THEATER visible on the left side of the street. Bird on a Wire and Cadillac Man were showing which dates the post card very closely to 1990.
Hey longisland. Having been to Post numerous times over the past 30 years I can tell you it is going to take someone with lots of $$$ and wants to open the TOWER for the fun of it.
There is not enough going in Post for the theater to stand on its own.
Sad to see the condition of the ZIA in the picture posted by ken mc.
Each time we lose one of these old treasures, a little bit of Americana is gone that we will never be able to replace.
Two night-time images of the RIVER OAKS that I took 3/18/07.

2004??….so much for the renovation.
Also there was a “TEXAN” theater in Grand Prairie, but I don’t know of a “TEXAS” theater having been there.
Here is a rare image of TEXAN.

It is one of my favorites, is it still standing?
I like my picture better.
This theater is obviously not a 1930s building. Anyone out there know of another Circle Theater in Dallas.
