Plaza Theatre

A great artifact from the golden age of celluloid, the Plaza Theatre was opened in October 1942, with a seating capacity given as 800. The theatre was triplexed sometime in the early-1980’s.

The Plaza 3 was renovated in 2007 and the seating capacities in the screens are now 135, 125 and 90.

Listed in the Film Daily Yearbook 1943 as having a seating capacity of 800. In the 1950 edition of F.D.Y. the seating capacity is given as 904 and the address is 1410 Main Street. Has there been a major re-numbering here?

I am still looking into it. I have come across a few instances in some of the directories in which the both the physical address of the theatre is listed as well as a mailing or bussiness address. I do not know if that is the situation here but will update when I find out. Thanks for your information.

The Flickr photo is from the Debra Jane Seltzer collection. The theatre appears to be in operation at the time this photo was made and I do not know its current status.
