The single screen Northwoods Theater had its grand opening on December 4, 1969. The movie shown was “Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid”. The theater had 530 seats and was operated by the Charlotte based Stewart & Everett Theatres. By 1976 the auditorium was split down the middle to create a twin screen cinema, each auditorium seating 265. It was renamed Northwoods Cinema 1 & 2.

By 1986 it had been taken over by Carmike Cinemas and was closed in September of 1997.
