Megaplex 8 at Thanksgiving Point opened in May of 2003 as Thanksgiving Point Stadium 8 operated by Westates Theatres. In January of 2005, the lease to this theater was purchased by Utah Jazz owner Larry H. Miller. Miller who owns Larry H. Miller Theatres Inc. of Sandy, Utah does business as Megaplex Theatres. The theater name was changed and is now operated by Megaplex Theatres.

This is a very uninspiring name for a theater, kind of like going to a supermarket called the Food Trough. We are not commodities.

Yes. But a movie theater by industry diffinition has to have 16+ theaters to be called a megaplex. This is a multiplex. (Although if they were include Multiplex in their theater’s name they would be sued by National Amusements).

This theater was recently converted to all Digital projection utilizing NEC projectors and Dolby Servers. There is still a film projector in theater #1 along side the digital projector juust in case.
