The Carlyle Theatre opened on Sep. 29, 1965 with a seating capacity of 650. The architect was Everett I. Brown. The theatre closed in 1975. The Carlyle has since been demolished.

In 1981, the Carlyle was part of Priority Theaters, an Indianapolis chain.

Did it close in 1975 as stated above, or was it still operating in 1981? Enquiring minds want to know.

Yes, this theater WAS in operation in 1981 and was closed in the mid 80s. The building still stands, it was used for a plumbing supply store…

There is an Industiral Services building where the theatre building once stood.
