The Empire 6 Cinemas was closed in 2009. The complex was converted into a Public Library, which opened in 2010. Auditorium 6 was partially preserved as a performance space.

The Empire 6 was owned by Empire Theatres, open in 1989 with seating for 1626. Empire closed this theatre in June of 2009.

This theatre closed a couple years after Empire opened the Dartmouth Crossing 12.
