The Ashton Cinema opened in February 1914 in the Bristol suburb of Bedminster. It was re-named Plaza Cinema in the mid-1940’s. It was always an independently operated cinema and closed c.1958.
It was converted into a supermarket and the building was last used as a carpet store, known as Imperial Carpets & Beds. The decorative details of the auditorium ceiling could still be seen inside the store. This has since closed and in May 2008 the building is being converted to apartments.
