Opened in the late-1980’s the Richmond Filmhouse was built on part of the site of the auditorium of the demolished New Royalty Kinema/Royalty Kinema/Gaumont Richmond. A covenant on the site stipulated that a cinema should remain there.

From 19th November 2008, the Filmhouse was re-named Curzon Richmond.

This location would have originally been where the proscenium/stage end of the New Royalty Kinema/Gaumont would have stood. With the auditorium of that cinema stretching along the narrow Water Lane.

This is Not a photograph of the Filmhouse, which is on the opposite side of the road! Your photograph is facing away from the river
