Midtown Cinema opened on July 28, 1970, as one of the Midtown Plaza’s early tenants.

Operated by Famous Players, it closed sometime in the early-2000’s, remaining empty, until its incorporation into more food court space in 2007.

In 1990 the Midtown is listed as a twin. Seating was 394 and 385 for a total of 779 seats.
