The Elite Picture House opened around 1918. When the cinema was equipped for sound films in the early-1930’s, it was re-named Cosy Cinema, and presented films and variety shows on stage. By 1938 Lou Morris had some involvement with the Cosy Cinema.

It was closed in 1939 and was possibly going to be the site of a new 2,100 seat Ritz Cinema, which was never built due to the outbreak of World War II.
