The Famous Theater opened around 1927. In 1980 it was operating as an adult theater. The building has been converted to office space and apartments.

This could also be listed as the Famous Adult Theater or the Famous Porno Theater.

Prior to its Adult fare it was listed as an African American Theatre. It was operated by Engler Theatres and later by jefferson Amusement Co.
