Located on the corner of Ming Street and West India Dock Road. The Popular Kinema opened in 1915, but soon closed due to conditions during World War I.
In 1923, it was re-opened as the Ideal Picture Palace. It had a 12 feet deep stage and two dresssing rooms, and presented film and variety. It closed in September 1940, when it was badly damaged by German bombs.
