Opened in 1885, St. George’s Central Hall was operated as a cinema from the early-1920’s by the Wesley East End Mission. It managed by the Rev. Percy Imeson, who also managed the larger Stepney Central Hall on Commercial Road.

The St. George’s Central Hall was used as a shelter for homeless men, after the end of World War II.
