Teatro Rex

Located in the poor barrio San Jose, just to the north of Caracas city centre. The Teatro Rex was opened in 1936 and had seating provided in stalls and balcony levels. Designed in an Art Deco style of the period, it was a popular cinema until the neighborhood went ‘downhill’. The Teatro Rex was closed in 1961.

It has been in use as a car repair shop for many years, the building has no maintenance, and is deteriorating badly.
