The Liberty Theatre was opened on July 10, 1916. Mention of the Liberty Theatre can be traced back to August of 1917 in the Covina Argus.

On November 11, 1921 the Argus noted that Charles H. Harris had purchased the theatre and was reopening it on November 18. Jack Sullivan former projectionist in Covina was selected as manager.

In March of 1928, three months after the new Azusa Theatre opened, Harris closed the theatre and sold the equipment.

The Film Daily Yearbook of 1927 listed the theatre with 410 seats. The Sanborn Maps of 1929 listed the theatre as vacant.
