Palladium Cinema

Located in Elland, West Yorkshire. Built in 1887 as the Town Hall and used for concerts, public meetings and other functions, it was designed in a Palladian style by architect C.F.L. Horsfall. Seating was provided for 1,000 in stalls and circle levels. The Town Hall Cinema Cinema opened in October 1909. In 1920 it was re-named Palladium Cinema, with an 800-seat capacity. The Palladium Cinema closed in June 1959. In the early-1960’s it was converted into a bingo club, operated by Corrigans of Filey. By 1975 the bingo club was operated by Bartels and it closed in 1977. It became a snooker club. The ground floor was used as a bistro restaurant and a pizza takeaway. The building was damaged by a fire on 18th November 1984. Repairs were carried out and the premises were used as a fitness centre and shops, by 2021 a banquet hall & shops. It is a Grade II Listed building.
