This 1928 movie palace located in the heart of downtown Burlington enjoyed a complete restoration/renovation sponsored by the City of Burlington and the Alamance County Arts Council. It reopened on Feb. 18, 1998, and currently hosts a wide variety of events including plays, musicals, concerts, gospel performances, business and community meetings, travelogues, and classic movies.

This 1940 ad touts the grand opening, which may have been a

Here is a recent photo of the Paramount Theater.
According to this website, this theater opened December 19, 1928 as the Grand Theater at 128 East Front Street. The name was changed to the Paramount Theater on September 2, 1929.
The Paramount, Carolina, and Alamance were owned by North Carolina Theatres, Inc. per ad in the 1940 “Doe Wah Jack”, Burlington High School annual.

When the Grand opened seating was listed at 778. This theatre was operated by Wilby-Kincey Theatres for many years. From what I found it closed as a movie theatre in the late-1970’s.
I bet at one time it might have been an ABC THEATRE or Plitt Theatre?
Another theater existed in Burlington that was owned by the Qualls family. The State Theater, located on Andrews Street, opened in 1939. A short article in the Burlington Times News is attached, along with a link. http://timesnews125.com/history/19390307.php
Mike,
It closed in 1978 under ABC Southeastern Theatres.
