Laemmle Theater could close, become a tri-plex
LOS ANGELES, CA — Laemmle’s flagship Royal Theatre could be cut in three if Greg Laemmle’s plans are approved. In order to stay viable, they claim the renovations are necessary. If approved, they could be completed by later this year. Besides the home for so many exclusive art-house engagements, its part of a dwindling list of single-screen theaters in Los Angeles.

Former AMC Meridian 6 will become high-end Studio C! Cinema
OKEMOS, MI — The former Meridian 6 is being converted into a luxury Studio C! Cinema. The theatre will still feature six screens but will now have recliners and full food service.

Carmike will replace Beverly 18 with 13 screen theater
CHAMPAIGN, IL — The Beverly 18 is being extensively redesigned by Carmike and losing five screens within a year. However, they’ll gain major upgrades and one of the chain’s signature Big D screeens.

More renovations coming to theaters at Schuylkill Mall
FRACKVILLE, PA — Four additional screens and other various upgrades are in store for the Schuylkill Mall 4. The theatre will remain open as they install digital capabilities as well as 3-D on select screens.

A theater of restored grandeur
GRAND ISLAND, NE — The restoration of the Grand Theater is almost complete but that didn’t stop them from screening a film in their new lobby. They painstakingly tried to bring it back with its original colors and layout.
