Taft Fox Theatre to reopen soon
TAFT, CA — According to the Taft Independent, the Fox Theatre will reopen soon. After closing a year ago, a new operator is in place who is pouring money into renovating it to provide the latest in picture and sound. The theatre just needs the support of the community.

Hollywood Theatre gets a makeover
PORTLAND, OR — After so many painful years, patrons have had enough and have contributed to replace the seats at the Hollywood Theatre. The seats were donated by Regal but local businesses and individuals donated to install them.

Tilton 9 to close at end of month for renovations
NORTHFIELD, NJ — The aging Tilton 9 is getting a makeover. Since Frank Theatres bought it a year ago, the plan has always been to revamp the 47-year old theatre. That plan is finally coming to fruition as they will close for a few months to instal new seating, sound and projection.

New life for old theater in Cedar City
CEDAR CITY, UT — According to The Spectrum, the Cedar City Twin is making a return after seven years in the dark. With the community itching for some more affordable entertainment, it will reopen as a second-run house and even provide digital projection. Hopefully, it will fill in the downtown nightlife gap like they expect it to.

Theater purchase stirs local memories
BOONE, NC — The Watauga Democrat discusses the enthusiasm from longtime residents with the news of the city purchasing the Appalachian 2 last month. It’s still not completely clear what’s going to happen to it but there will be a planning meeting next week to talk about the possibilities.

Ace Hotel to incorporate renovated UA
LOS ANGELES, CA — Good news for the former United Artists Theatre. After recently being sold, the future of the theatre was in doubt. Now it appears that The Ace, a boutique hotel chain, will renovate the spaces above and keep the theatre intact.

Dental practice gives new life to old Belvedere Theatre
CHARLOTTE, NC — After being closed for a number of years, the Belvedere Theatre is reopening and making the surprising return as a dental practice. Dentist Richard Dest received a loan as well as funds from the city to preserve the building and construct offices within it.

Revamped theater has grand opening
SPRINGFIELD, MO — The former Springfield 8 is now the Springfield 11 thanks to a renovation by ShowPlex Cinemas. It cost them $4.5M but there’s now an IMAX screen and digital projectors for every auditorium.

New curtains for vintage movies at Egyptian theater
OGDEN, UT — Peery’s Egyptian Theater is showing off some new curtains it purchased. They’ll be used for their presentations of classic films and add to the already impressive renovations of the structure.
