There was an ad in the Iowa Press Citizen dated 9/10/69 advertising the grand opening of Cinema 1 and 2 On The Mall. The address was given as Highway 6 East at Sycamore. Looking up current theaters, the Sycamore 12 is listed at 1602 Sycamore Street. It may be that the two Cinemas were converted into a twelveplex, or the theaters may be completely different. Any information would be appreciated.

Field verified – the original Cinema 1&2 was at the east end of the mall (opposite the existing Sycamore 12) and is now occupied by a women’s clothing store called Four Seasons.
Then the current aka for this theater should be removed.
The AKA should be removed. It was at a different location altogether.
The Current Sycamore 12 is what used the be Sears, The west anchor of Sycamore Mall. The Cinema 1 & 2 were more towards the middle inside the mall. I beleive they were converted to retail when Sears was converted to Sycamore 12.
