Most Wanted. I remember seeing that one on DVD. It rivals Armageddon in terms of stupidity and it’s one of many embarrassing performances for Jon Voight.

I’ve read about that. All digital AND THX. I don’t really see there being more of those coming though, due to the recession and Warren not being a major player in the exhibitor game.

And I actually got the idea that the Wichita theatre was treated better. They seem to get the better bookings (for example, Fox titles actually get play there) plus they’re better with the midnight series and they even have a classics series on Wednesdays. Here in Springfield it seems that half the movies don’t get run, the midnight series seems to be smaller and there is no classics series yet. If given the opportunity, I’d rather pay $2.50 to watch The Godfather or Citizen Kane or Raging Bull instead of Eagle Eye or Beverly Hills Chihuahua. But at least we got the Gillioz booking classics sometimes.

The latest I can find the theatre playing double bills is 1982 (from Ed Solero’s clippings).

In fact, this is what was playing on the weekend of March 5th, 1982.

Screen 1: Death Wish II/Prom Night
Screen 2: Enter The Ninja/Evilspeak
Screen 3: Evil Under The Sun/Endless Love

Do the owners of this theatre also run Music Box Films (the US distributors of films such as Tell No One and OSS 117) or is that company run by other Chicago people who happened to name their company after the theatre?

Perhaps it was to attract the urban crowd. But still, Flightplan was a bad film and I don’t understand how it did so well at the box office.

Meanwhile, what is your opinion on DLP and REAL-D? I believe that REAL-D is useful to attracting audiences to see certain films and they usually draw better than the 2-D versions of films. Plus, many theatres are able to play both film and digital sources so you can continue to play film but also alternate with digital in certain situations (such as REAL-D).

And now, 2007’s second half for Cinemark’s game.

I first saw this when I was eleven or twelve when I rented it from Blockbuster. I remember reading that it was one of the best superhero movies and I wasn’t disappointed in the least bit. Soon I rented the others and saw Superman Returns in theatres when it opened in 2006.

In order (best to worst): I, II, Returns, IV, Supergirl, III.
