my error it was in flushing
I WAS ONLY HERE ONCE SO I AM NOT SURE , BUT I REMEMBER IT AS A TRIPLEX. WALK IN CANDY STAND IN THE CENTER AND A TWO SIDED MARBEL STAIR CASE TO SECOND FLOOR . THE LARGEST MENS ROON I EVER SAW IN A THEATER
The only theater in NEW YORK not to have a candy stand sold no food or drinks of any kind. RKO / CINEPLEX ALWAYS HELD THERE MANAGER MEETINGS HERE.
only in this theater once on its last day, as i worked for RKO, TO DECIED WHAT WE WERE TO REMOVE.What a bad multiplex job here but what this theater must of been like was still evident.
always liked this theater not big or grand but a nice theater to see a movie
a great theater that always did big box office # for its ,Kiss of the spider women played here for a year or so.
the theater was closed when the vandalism took place
i managed this theater 1 day when the manager was a no show a nice local theater that was run down .Strange as this may sound the thing i remember most about the theater was the bathrooms were inside the auditorium never have seen that again in any other theater.
this theater is for sale on ebay aug 2004
any info on this theater
Its hard to say how long this location has but rumors always have it closing and being sold for houses lots and lots of property here.
always liked this theater only saw 2 movies there but the theater HAD a good vibe now a SATURN DEALERSHIP
i over saw the renovation of this theater for Cineplex Odeon never did the # ,it should .some of the big movies it did well with the Rambo series.
the village owns it
when the theater closed it was century or almi century at the time
This theater closed around 1983 give or take, the box office # for i pass this theater every day this theater bad for years. I pass this theater every day and the birds love it. never had good parking
THE YORK WAS LOCATED IN THE BIG H SHOPPING CENTER
The YORK THEATER LOCATED ON ROUTE 110 IN HUNTINGTON OPENED AROUND THE SAME TIME AS THE WHITMAN .THE YORK ALMOST IDENTICAL IN LOOKS TO THE WHITMAN.ITS MAIN CLAIM TO FAME FOR CENTURY WAS ONE OF THE STRONGEST DISNEY HOUSES IN THE CHAIN ALWAYS DID SO WELL.SO THEY BOOKED R RATED MOVIES MOSTLY HERE,TYPICAL RKO/CENTURY.
NEVER A BUSY THEATER FOR RKO UNLIKE ITS SISTER THEATER COMMACK TWIN BOTH BUILT AS TWINS, THE LONGEST AUDITORIUM YOU EVER SAW . The lobby in both theaters had smoked mirrors ,the best thing about these theaters were the candy stands and ladies rooms each stall had its own sink and mirrors.
This was one of rko busyest twins on long island the theater is the last rko twin still open(now loews cineplex)The theater has an odd lease were it can never open matinee except sat ,sun and legal holidays.AN UGLY TWIN BAD SEATS BUT ALWAYS DID GREAT BSNS.
this was the worst of century theaters , i had to work as a manager
here one night and i wanted to cry.
this theater operated by UA for years was a .76cents house in 1976 and then became a 99 cents house for many years. a very nice local theater
THIS WAS A GREAT OLD TIME MOVIE HOUSE ALWAYS OVERSHADOWED BY THE LOEWS KINGS.Even as a quad still nice and cineplex odeon renovation of this theater was great.
THIS THEATER WAS ONE OF THE FEW THAT HAD SMELL ARAMA WHEN THAT WAS A NEW IDEA IN MOVIES
This theater always had two managers both who ran the theater for almost 40 years. The second floor or the penthouse was run by a man NICK G. The main floor was run by Genave. All the RKO theaters called this theater every night with daily box office #.
