Orpheum Theatre Gets New Owners
ST. LOUIS, MO — The Orpheum Theatre has been purchased by Mike and Steve Roberts, who also own the Roberts Mayfair Hotel, an historic Wyndham Hotel (adjacent to the Orpheum), and the historic “Roberts Lofts” (former Board of Education building, designed by I. Taylor, located across the street at 9th and Locust).
Although still in the planning stages, I believe this will be another fine renovation. In St. Louis, the Roberts brothers are well-known patrons of the arts, who’ve gained much respect for the thoroughness of all their various endeavors. As a native of this historic city, I look forward to attending the Orpheum Theatre’s grand re-opening… without a doubt!

Edwards Temple Cinema 4 Goes Dark
TEMPLE CITY, CA — The Edwards Temple Cinema 4, which sits on the spot of the 2nd Temple Theatre, at 9021 Las Tunas Drive, is dark, and the marquee is blank. It’s been this way now for at least a week. From speaking with people who used to go there, some have said that the inside was not being kept up. Others say that a restaurant is to be built there. Sad to see!

Eastern Federal Closes Delta 6 Theatre
CHARLOTTE, NC — After 15 years of operation, Eastern Federal has closed the Delta 6. Employees unfortunately were given two days notice. The building and land are for sale/lease.
On a side note, the Delta 6’s sister theater, Movie at the Lake (Hunsterville, NC), sits very close to a recently closed, not yet 5 year-old, independent theater that is now advertising the showtimes and website for EF.
