Sadly the venture was short-lived and the Picture House closed again on 31st October 2008. It had been relatively successful, but costs were set to rise and the organisers could not afford to subsidise, even in the short term, a loss.
It was operating as a cinema at this point (showing Silver Streak released in 1976), with no bingo signage, so I am not sure if the above date is wrong or if it reopened for films after bingo? Anyone with a definitive answer
Scarborough Council have the results of yet another consultancy (who did not bother to contact the lessee of the Futurist) which recommends putting all entertainments into the Spa Grand Hall and closing the Futurist.
